Victoria Massey

Victoria first came to yoga having several years of ballet training and modern dance, wanting to maintain flexibility whilst also building strength.  Yoga allowed her to strengthen her body but more importantly, to calm the mind chatter, regaining focus, and relieving stress.  She began to search for a place where she could expand her experiences and share them with other like minded individuals. So after practicing different forms of yoga for almost 10 years, she came upon the ‘It's Yoga' Astanga Vinyasa system and enrolled in the Teacher Training Program. Since her teacher training, she has enjoyed an ever expanding and deepening love for the practice- sharing and learning from others and developing a community, a communication and a shared language.

Her philosophy in teaching yoga is to make it fun, giving a positive experience, so that everyone will end a class feeling the benefit yoga can have on their bodies, minds, and in everyday life.

She has been teaching a variety of styles of yoga and enjoys providing a range of classes, from gentle Restorative yoga, specialist workshops for beginners, traditional ashtanga, through to the energetic Rocket system.

Classes include:

Vinyasa Flow

Vinyasa flow yoga has a sound basis and structure. It begins and ends in a logical way with various sun salutations followed by lots of creative individual input in the middle area of the class. An organic mix that moves with the mood and energy of the class allowing freedom of expression steady rhythm and lots of focus on the smooth transition from posture to posture is the key to this class.

Restorative Yoga

Restorative Yoga is centered on relaxing the body in restful stances. Rest impacts on your health, it lowers stress, it gives you more energy throughout the day,  in addition it helps in recovery of bone, muscle, tendons and ligaments. This restorative class will be perfect for people with injuries, chronic pain, or limited mobility, but open to all people who are looking for a gentle, relaxing practice. The class focuses on breathing and relaxation, this is achieved through gentle movements and supported poses. It provides simple techniques that focus on the diverse needs of individuals.

Ashtanga Yoga

The Ashtanga system is a set order of steps that a practitioner can work. The class starts with quiet time to welcome the day - standing postures leading into seated postures finishing with inversions followed by relaxation. This system realigns the spine, detoxifies the body, and builds strength, flexibility and stamina.

Rocket System

A series of postures based on a modification of the traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga primary and intermediate series. The perfect marriage of tempo and sequence, these advanced routines is appropriate for all levels of students. With plenty of ways to modify the classical poses, the benefits of the poses are transmitted equally to renew vitality and energy. This vibrant routine is called the "Rocket" because, "it gets you there faster." The Rocket is designed to wake up the nervous system and feed it the precious prana it craves while promoting a spirit of change and freedom in the practice.
