The step platform allows for exciting changes in level that turn even the most simple dance fitness routines into Broadway masterpieces. Don’t think too hard and you’ll be amazed where your feet will lead you.

Disco Aerobics: Release your inner diva and sweat out your Saturday night fever in this fun class transported directly from 1970s Studio 54. Get your groove on under the glitter ball with your best Travolta impersonation. The moves are easy but the beat is hard.

This class will have you hoppin’ and boppin’ to the Crocodile Rock, feeling Footloose, and shouting ‘Great Balls of Fire!’ With the basic step plus a few groovy moves, you’ll be twisting the night away in no time.

Merengue: If you’re new to Latin dancing and want to have a go, Merengue is a great dance to start with. Coming from the Dominican Republic, Merengue combines easy footworks with fun partnering turns and twists. Along with Salsa and Cha Cha Cha, Merengue will have dancing Caribbean style!

Salsa: Everybody get hot hot hot with the fabulous Salsa. With its origins in Cuba, hips will be swaying as you get a good workout. One of the world’s most popular social dances, Salsa is a perfect dance for tropical daytimes and evenings.

Additional Information

Clothing & Shoes: For ballroom/Latin classes, casual or fitness clothing is fine. Please wear leather-soled shoes that will stay on your feet when you walk backwards (i.e. a shoe that goes around your heel). No flip-flops please. Heel height is whatever is comfortable for you. Indoor trainers are okay, so long as you can swivel and turn. For dance fitness classes, fitness clothing and trainers are best.

One-to-One Lessons: Grab the opportunity to get personalised instruction from the Jive June master teachers. One-to-one lessons are available for individuals, couples, or up to four people at once. These lessons are tailored to suit your specific interests and needs. For more information, please contact the Activities Desk on 7809.

Partners: For the Jive June ballroom/Latin classes, a partner is not required. If there are not an equal number of men and women, class participants will be randomly divided into ‘leaders’ and ‘followers’, and will change partners frequently. It’s a fun, social way to meet fellow guests and have fun with dance. For the dance fitness classes, it’s just you and the music!
