Andrew Barnard is the Deputy Managing Director of Sunswept Resorts, a full-service hotel management company which manages his family’s two resorts: BodyHoliday and Rendezvous. Having grown up in the resorts, hotel management and hospitality is in his blood and Andrew started helping out and working at the resorts since childhood.
In 1993 Andrew moved to Europe where he lived for 7 years. As well as experience gained in a pedigree of European hotels in France, Spain and Switzerland, Andrew left in 2000 speaking fluent French, Spanish and Italian with a BSc in International Hospitality Management from Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne.
After 18 months working for Francis Ford-Coppola’s wine and restaurant business in California Andrew moved back to Saint Lucia. He took his first formal role in 2001 as House Leader of The BodyHoliday and moved to F&B Leader in 2003. In 2006, when the family purchased The Jalousie Plantation from Hilton hotels he became General Manager, as he took over at short notice and restructured the failing property. A year later he was appointed to General Manager of The BodyHoliday. In 2009 he joined SunSwept Resorts as Director of Sales and Marketing and was appointed to his current position in 2013.
Andrew has been central in designing BodyHoliday to exceed the requirements of today’s consumers in terms of health and wellbeing. He is passionate about ensuring that the experience remains the world-leader in Wellness Holidays and consistently reflects and leads consumer values and expectations to change people’s lives for the better by adopting healthier lifestyles.
A former Ultra-Distance endurance athlete, having run three 150-mile races in The Atacama, The Sahara and The Gobi desserts, Andrew now enjoys volleyball, mountain biking, swimming and kite-surfing.
Andrew is married to Nikoo and father to Cyrus his 7-year old son.
