About Finlay
Renowned for his iconic Kilted Yoga sessions in the Scottish wilderness, Finlay extends his impact through a charitable venture in Dundee, tailoring yoga practices for real people. With personal triumphs over injury, back problems, and mobility constraints, he leverages his anatomy and sports therapy expertise to create transformative class experiences.
As the bestselling author of ‘Kilted Yoga’ and ‘Wild Kilted Yoga,’ Finlay passionately bridges the gap, connecting individuals to this ancient practice and reaching those who may never have considered yoga for themselves.
Finlay is an established Yoga Guru at the BodyHoliday. Last October during “Octoba Yoga”, we asked him a few questions during his “Kilted Yoga at BodyHoliday” sessions.
The Kilted Yoga at BodyHoliday Interview
What’s your favourite, go-to recipe to cook?
Jambalaya! It’s a rice-based dish from Louisiana that Spanish, French, and African cuisine influence. It combines creole seasoning with chicken, peppers, rice, tomato, prawns, and smoked sausage. It’s delicious!
How would you advise anyone who is second-guessing their ability to do yoga? Especially first-timers.
Go to class, arrive early, and speak to your teacher about concerns. Avoiding class won’t get you anywhere, and most of our class are first-timers, so as long as you don’t turn up classes that sound hard (look out for keywords like inversions to identify more advanced classes!), you’ll have a great time. Anyone can do Yoga!
How have you found your Kilted Yoga at Bodyholiday has been received so far?
Amazing! Everybody is so enthusiastic, and because we get returning guests, we get to understand their bodies and work with them on their level. Also, it’s fun because we always introduce new concepts and get so much feedback from working here. The classes have been so popular that we need to bring in more mats before classes show up!
What should guests expect to experience in Kilted Yoga at BodyHoliday with you?
One of the things we value most is accessibility, which includes every guest at every level, so every class is always different. Still, it will always be served with a sense of humor and outrageous outfits!
What tip would you give anyone to have the best holiday experience here at Bodyholiday?
Do not plan too much in advance, and do not feel guilty about doing as much or as little as you want. Once you’re here, the main thing is to enjoy yourself!
